Hi! i'm new with monkey, looking for advises!Monkey Forums/Monkey Beginners/Hi! i'm new with monkey, looking for advises!
I just bought monkey pro and i'm pretty happy seeing the samples running on all the platforms i want! (i had some trouble installing the sdk's with the auto-installer provided in this forum so i made it manually, gave me a small headhache but all is ok now on mac and on windows)
I'm looking for several kind of neebie advises... thanks for reading me.
as i think i'll chose to work on mac osx (because it can do both ios and android) so i wonder if there are alternatives that are better than ted for mac...
I see there is a lot of diffent framework, wich one would you advise for games using 2d physics and network. (it looks like ignition x has a rube importer, how fast is box2d-ignition x with those imports?)
I also look for silk smooth anitmation in order to get a great action gameplay! Is ignition x not too heavy for some mobiles? is there some framework know for the quality of the i/o responses.(i'd like to avoid as much as possible "cyclic microlags" and get a fluid action game)
on wich mobiles/tablets should i try my games?
if it works on iphone3, will it normaly work on other iphones (and so for ipad 1 )?
Welcome, I cant speak for frameworks as I use my own but or IDE http://www.jungleide.com/ is ya best bet for a Windows IDE for Mac ya probably better off using http://www.sublimetext.com/ with the monkey plugin (search the forums here) i also think there is a plugin for http://macromates.com/ too. And I don't have apple stuff so cant comment on hardware, other than Apple Watch is a lazy piece of crap. =D
The Apple side of things depends on the versions of OS X, XCode, iOS SDK and Monkey-X.
Also Mollusk is a nice ide, http://www.grudlux.com/mollusk/
Hi, many thanks for your answers!
About Apple side of things... I have osx 10.9(mavericks) with xcode5.1 latest ios sdk and monkey 79. Will i be able to compile an executable that will run on 3dr,4th and 5th gen ios devices at the same time or will i have to compile different apps for each generation?
Will i be able to compile an executable that will run on 3dr,4th and 5th gen ios devices at the same time or will i have to compile different apps for each generation?Compiling for iOS devices does not depend on the generation, but on the support version of iOS that can be installed on that device. There is an announcement from Apple that from the 1 Feb 2014 you have to use XCode5 with a minimal iOS of 7.0. You should check out the list of iOS device for what is supported.
With an IPhone 3GS you will be out of luck these days. Definitely.
